Biography

I live in Leicestershire from where I work as a singer, singing teacher and vocal coach. As well as being actively engaged in teaching and coaching, I have recently completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Music with distinction at Birmingham Conservatoire, under the tuition of Margaret Field.

Most recently, I have sung the role of Nero in Monteverdi’s Incoronazione di Poppea and Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote in productions at Birmingham’s Crescent Theatre, and also the title role in Handel’s Alcina, and Mussetta in Puccini’s La Boheme, both for the Birmingham Conservatiore opera scenes. I regularly appear as a soloist in the Midlands area, and also enjoy ensemble singing, having sung with the Birmingham Conservatoire Chamber Choir, under Jeffrey Skidmore and Paul Spicer as well as Vautor Ensemble, Cavendish Singers and the Richard Roddis Singers.

I have twice been selected as a finalist in the Cecil Drew Oratorio Prize and was recently awarded first prize in the Birmingham Consrvatoire Mario Lanza Opera competition. In 2003 I won the Rae Woodland Scholarship, at the Leamington Spa festival of music, allowing me to attend the Britten-Pears School as an observer for ten days.

I am a carillonneur and play the 47 bell Carillon at Loughborough’s War Memorial.
